Establish a strong presence in the Pro Lumber Yards, Home Centers, Paint, Hardware Stores, Decorating Stores, and E-retailer space by securing new high-value customers for Emery Jensen Distribution. This role involves identifying prospects, developing a pipeline, determining customer needs, and sharing the Emery Jensen value proposition to meet those needs.

The Business Development Manager is an ambassador for Emery Jensen Distribution, fostering relationships with industry organizations, vendor partners, and prospective customers. They work closely with the sales team, helping new customers transition to Territory Managers during the early months after signing. The BDM maintains a weekly prospect pipeline with measurable results and presents pre/post call plans showing improvement towards conversion of customers.

Key responsibilities include actively researching, pursuing, and opening prospective customers within defined sales channels by articulating and executing on the Emery Jensen value proposition. They also participate in national industry organizations, attend trade shows, and build relationships with field sales teams from national partners.

This position requires comfortability with cold calling and a track record of success. A minimum of 3 years in new business development or territory manager position is preferred, along with knowledge/experience in the hard-lines industry. Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Business Intelligence systems, and CRM tools is also required.

A college degree or equivalent is necessary, and existing book of business is highly preferred. Travel is expected to be approximately 75% of the time, and residing near the assigned region is preferred.
