Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in a school setting. In this role, you will be responsible for providing acute care and community-oriented services to students, teachers, and parents.


About the Role

As a Registered Nurse in a school setting, your primary responsibility will be to cover any acute care needs within the school. This includes addressing bumps, bruises, and other minor health issues. You will also be involved in providing health information to students, teachers, and parents, as well as collaborating with school personnel and parents to ensure student care is met.


Key Responsibilities
  • Care Planning: Develop and implement care plans for students with ongoing conditions to ensure their optimal health and well-being.
  • Consultation: Consult with teachers, school administrators, and other school staff regarding student care to provide comprehensive support.
  • Medication Administration: Administer medication as required by doctor's orders to maintain student safety.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with school personnel and parents to address student needs and develop effective solutions.
  • Emergency Response: Provide emergency treatment as needed to staff and students to prevent further harm.
  • Student Monitoring: Monitor student immunization records to ensure compliance with health regulations.
  • Education and Training: Educate students and staff on health procedures to promote understanding and prevent illness.
  • Screenings: Perform hearing, vision, and other health screenings to identify potential health concerns.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • A State of Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Previous school nursing or substitute nursing experience
  • A Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • Knowledge of school laws and policies
  • BLS/CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Knowledge of state health regulations

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, we provide comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a 401(k) plan and paid time off.
