">Job DescriptionA Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in the assessment, treatment, and care of patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders. With expertise in respiratory function management and critical care, you will work closely with individuals of all ages to develop personalized treatment plans.
Key Responsibilities:- Patient Assessment and Evaluation:
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients with respiratory conditions, including medical history reviews and physical examinations.
- Assess lung function, breathing patterns, oxygen levels, and other vital signs using various diagnostic techniques.
- Analyze test results, such as pulmonary function tests (PFTs) and arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis.
- Treatment Plan Development and Implementation:
- Collaborate with physicians to create and implement tailored treatment plans for patients with respiratory issues.
- Adjust and monitor ventilation settings for patients requiring mechanical ventilation or non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (e.g., CPAP, BiPAP).
- Administer respiratory therapy treatments, including oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, and airway clearance techniques.
- Emergency Response and Critical Care:
- Provide emergency respiratory care to patients experiencing respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, or other life-threatening situations.
- Administer resuscitation techniques, such as CPR, defibrillation, and advanced airway management, when necessary.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A degree in respiratory therapy or a related field.
- Current licensure as a respiratory therapist in the state where the job is located.
- Proficiency in using various respiratory equipment and devices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
