About the Role

This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment on all systems. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise in HVAC maintenance & troubleshooting and be multi-skilled in other areas (pipe fitting/plumbing, electrical) to successfully complete daily/weekly work assignments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily rounds and record readings, making adjustments as necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment.
  • Communicate with the Hard Services Team regarding equipment condition and identify cumbersome or faulty systems, recommending possible changes.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all building and critical system equipment, including assembling tools and supplies, conducting immediate clean-up, and reporting any equipment problems.
  • Install and rebuild pumps and motors, install and repair piping, valves, filters, hot water systems, and associated controls.
  • Assist other mechanics and operators with major repairs and maintenance of building and equipment, including electrical controls, switching, and motor controls.
  • Perform routine facility repairs, including sheetrock, patching, caulking, painting, lock repair, and piping.
  • Maintain tools and order supplies as required for installation and repairs, and comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Ensure that all appropriate R&M data is captured on a work order and review and analyze system data, developing initial recommendations with the Hard Services Team on any maintenance changes, upgrades, replacements, etc.
  • Maintain up-to-date and complete system documentation in a CMMS system for all repairs or changes to the system.
  • Supervise contractors or 3rd party maintenance providers while working on house equipment and cross-train backup, shift coverage, or others as appropriate to the advanced level.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace and be routinely available as an On-Call craftsperson.
Requirements
  • EPA Universal Certification
  • 2 years of related trade schooling or equivalent
  • At least three years working in the Bio-Pharmaceutical industry a plus
  • 3+ years of HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting experience
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and local codes
  • Proficient with computer-based systems and programs, including Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Able to work in CMMS to review Work Orders and create new tickets
  • Ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions, and take corrective action as required
  • Skilled and physically able to operate electric hand tools, work on a ladder, carry tools, lift and carry heavy loads, operate required equipment, and operate a motor vehicle
  • Able to work in close places such as closets, crawl spaces, attics, vaults, etc.
  • Able to work on roofs of buildings
  • Subject to call 24 hours per day and required to work in all weather conditions
