Director of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Prevention Education

As the Director of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Prevention Education, you will lead the development and implementation of comprehensive sexual and gender-based violence prevention programs for the campus community. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Equity and Accessibility, you will oversee the coordination of prevention education and outreach initiatives, working closely with campus partners to advance a culture of learning, empowerment, and accountability.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive sexual and gender-based violence prevention strategic plan, aligned with best practices and evidence-based research.
Lead the development of operational plans for the newly created department, ensuring a coordinated and comprehensive university-wide approach to sexual and gender-based violence prevention.
Collaborate with campus partners to continuously seek feedback from the campus community, ensuring prevention programs meet the needs of all students at all VT campus locations.
Develop metrics and measures to assess the effectiveness of prevention programs, with a focus on continuous program improvement.
Develop and deliver sexual and gender-based violence prevention education and outreach programs, ensuring learning objectives and student learning outcomes are met.
Provide presentations to the campus, community partners, and on sexual and gender-based violence prevention education and SVPI initiatives.
Work collaboratively with the Title IX Coordinator to ensure prevention education programs align with Title IX compliance expectations and address identified trends in sexual and gender-based violence reports and complaints.
Work collaboratively with campus partners, including Student Conduct, Hokie Wellness, Human Resources, Faculty Affairs, Dean of Students, Women's Center, Fraternity and Sorority Life, New Student Programs, Athletics, Corps of Cadets, and others, to advance sexual and gender-based violence prevention education.
Lead the development of a comprehensive marketing and communications plan, including periodic reports, publications, and outreach materials to publicize prevention programs.
Stay up to date on sexual and gender-based violence prevention education research, best practices, and trends in higher education, ensuring best-in-class prevention education programs.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in public health, counseling, gender studies, sociology, psychology, college student development, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and assessing sexual and gender-based violence prevention programs and campaigns.
Experience working with organizations focused on sexual and gender-based violence prevention, sexual assault, domestic violence, and/or stalking.
Working knowledge of relevant federal laws, including Title IX, the Clery Act, and the Violence Against Women Act.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build consensus, manage sensitive information, and act with discretion and neutrality.
Proficiency with Microsoft office programs and case management systems.
