Job Summary

The Kentucky Judicial Branch is seeking a Pretrial Services Specialist to join our team in Frankfort and the state courts that operate in all 120 counties. As a Pretrial Services Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing a statewide program based on the premise that defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty and are entitled to reasonable bail.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interview defendants in jail within 24 hours of incarceration.
  • Complete required assessments.
  • Make recommendations to trial courts for pretrial release with supervision and diversion.
  • Monitor compliance for clients released with conditions or referred to diversion.
  • Monitor compliance with conditions of contract.
  • Submit detailed written reports to the appropriate entities.
  • Keep statistics for the preparation of monthly reports.
  • Broker community resources for diversion and conditional release.
  • Appear in court as needed.
  • Prepare affidavits of indigency for the courts.
  • Enter data into prim (Pretrial Release Information Management System).

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • No experience required, but Associates Degree with 2 years of job-related experience or High School Degree with 4 years of job-related experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to pass FBI clearance to obtain NCIC certification.
  • Must be able to work in the jail or detention center of the county or counties in which assigned.
  • Must maintain NCIC certification.

Working Conditions
The work is typically performed in an office setting within a detention center. Supervision and case management of adult criminal defendants and/or adult offenders is required. Travel is also required.
