Job Title: Senior Field Hydrologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Field Hydrologist to join our team at the TEXAS WATER DEVELOPMENT BOARD. This is a critical role that requires expertise in hydrology, meteorology, and earth sciences to support our TexMesonet program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and conduct fieldwork, including the installation, calibration, and maintenance of earth observation stations.
  • Use GIS applications to identify and prioritize site locations.
  • Develop working relationships with landowners, contractors, and other stakeholders to facilitate station deployment and data collection.
  • Serve as a lead worker during fieldwork and provide direction to team members.
  • Perform site suitability analyses for hydrometeorological station installations.
  • Collect and analyze hydrometeorological data from TexMesonet and collaborator network stations.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with coursework in Water Resources, Earth Sciences, Hydrology, Meteorology, or a related field.
  • Five years of relevant work experience conducting environmental resources fieldwork in meteorology, atmospheric sciences, water resources, or a related field.
  • Experience in coordinating fieldwork involving meteorology or water resources.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduate degree or working towards completion of a graduate degree from an accredited four-year college or university with coursework in Water Resources, Earth Sciences, Hydrology, Meteorology, or a related field.
  • Experience in designing and installing electronic instrumentation systems.
  • Experience in Geographic Information Systems.
