Education Internship for Child Development Professionals

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as classroom aide interns, offering a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop skills in child development.
About the RoleAs a classroom aide intern, you will work closely with senior teachers to support children's learning and development. Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining enrollment in our pathway program and completing required courses to become eligible for the associate teacher permit;
- Attending child development classes facilitated by East Los Angeles College (ELAC) for four hours per week and completing approximately eight to 10 hours of homework per week;
- Assisting senior teachers with supervision of children and classroom management;
- Providing a wide variety of experiences for children, emphasizing active learning;
- Ensuring a clean and sanitary facility; and
- Interacting effectively with children, parents, and staff.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Current enrollment in a child development course or agreement to enroll in our Pathway Program to obtain an associate teacher permit;
- Certification in pediatric CPR and pediatric first aid acceptable to Community Care Licensing (Health and Safety Code 1596.866), and renewal every two years;
- Health screening and TB clearance, renewed every five years;
- Proof of immunization for TDap, MMR, whooping cough, and yearly influenza (waiver may be accepted for influenza);
- A California driver's license, daily use of an automobile, and automobile liability insurance (preferred);
- Command of Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or Vietnamese (preferred);
- Ability to communicate in written and oral English correctly and effectively.
This internship offers a competitive hourly wage of $21.00, paid work hours that include on-the-job training, classroom time, and homework, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
