Civil Engineer in Training Position

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Civil Engineer in Training to join our Community Development Group in multiple locations throughout the Midwest. As a Civil Engineer in Training, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of innovative and diverse projects from the design of civil and municipal engineering projects for highways and local roads, public utilities and public works, parks, trails, pipelines, tunnels, renewable energy projects and related infrastructure projects.
This position involves working collaboratively with design teams in the development of construction plans and specifications; preparing reports, studies, and construction contract documents; computing quantities and preparing cost estimates; performing field observations and assisting in the coordination and management of construction activities.

As a Civil Engineer in Training, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of innovative and diverse projects, and will be responsible for performing civil design and technical tasks on projects under the supervision of the Project Manager or Project Engineer.
You will work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project, and will perform field work/construction observation under the supervision of a senior engineer/designer and/or construction manager.
You will also be responsible for performing data analysis and calculations to analyze and design civil system components, collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions, and interpreting and verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
Additionally, you will analyze proposed project solutions to ensure reliability, resource efficiency and cost effectiveness, and will communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and written, with project team members, clients, and contractors.
Qualifications for this position include a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and successful completion of the EIT exam or the ability to take the EIT exam within six months of starting, as well as related Co-op/Internship experience preferred for new graduates; 1-2 years of related civil engineering experience for more experienced engineers.
