Job Title: Preoperative Assessment Nurse

Job Summary:
The Advanced Pain Care team is seeking a skilled Preoperative Assessment Nurse to provide preoperative assessments and instructions to prepare patients for surgery. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for initiating preoperative assessment and care to pre-surgical patients using the nursing process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough preoperative assessments and screenings to identify potential complications
  • Develop and implement individualized preoperative care plans to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care transitions
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely preoperative information
  • Provide education and instructions to patients and families on preoperative and postoperative care
  • Review and verify physician orders to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current licensure to practice in the state of Texas
  • Minimum of two years' experience in perioperative nursing
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines

Working Conditions:
Medical office environment with frequent exposure to patients and families. Must be able to lift and transfer patients in excess of 100 pounds and push a gurney with a 150-pound patient on it. Ability to stand, walk, stop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Ability to reach, grasp, use fine finger movement, and feel fine sensation to discern temperature, texture, size, and shape. Ability to wear lead apron. Salary: $34-$40/hour
