Job Title: Commercial HVAC Service Technician

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Service Technician to join our team at Texas AirSystems. As a key member of our service team, you will be responsible for performing electrical and mechanical inspections, start-ups, and maintenance on the equipment we sell.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical and mechanical inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure peak performance
  • Conduct specific preventative maintenance, including belt adjustments, oiling, greasing, and cleaning of equipment
  • Use technical skills and experience to determine service requirements and interpret engineering drawings
  • Represent the company in a positive manner to other trades, contractors, and owners
  • Advise owners and representatives on preventive maintenance inspections and corrective actions
  • Suggest additional services beneficial to customers
  • Work in a team-based environment to share information and workload while ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Submit required paperwork to the Service Coordinator in a timely manner
  • Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to all safety measures

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • Current HVAC certification and OSHA 10 training, plus 1-5 years of experience as a Service Helper or Service Technician in a residential or commercial environment
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software and working proficiency with handheld computers
  • Electrical knowledge required, with EPA Certification preferred
  • Ability to work in diverse conditions, including mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, extreme weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock
  • Must be able to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, and regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Mental stamina for problem solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.

Environmental Requirements:

Will be required to work in a field environment, visiting multiple customer sites on a daily basis.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate a computer keyboard, reach with hands and arms, and stand, walk, and sit. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
