Urbana, Illinois, United States Magnet Medical Full time
Radiology Imaging Specialist Job Summary

Magnet Medical is seeking a highly skilled Radiology Imaging Specialist to join their team for a travel opportunity in Illinois. As a Radiology Imaging Specialist, you will be responsible for assisting with minimally invasive procedures that utilize imaging techniques such as fluoroscopy, CT scans, and ultrasound to guide physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Pre-Procedure Preparation: Prepare the interventional radiology suite by ensuring all necessary imaging equipment, sterile instruments, and supplies are available and functioning. Review patient information, medical history, and previous imaging studies to ensure the correct procedure and appropriate imaging protocols. Verify patient identity, allergies, and consent forms before the procedure begins. Explain the procedure to the patient, address any concerns, and provide reassurance to reduce anxiety.
  • Assisting During Procedures: Assist the interventional radiologist in performing a wide range of minimally invasive procedures, including angiograms, biopsies, catheter placements, stent insertions, and drain placements. Operate imaging equipment (e.g., fluoroscopy, CT scan, or ultrasound) to guide the physician during procedures, ensuring accurate imaging to target specific areas of the body. Maintain a sterile environment by assisting with sterile draping, setting up sterile instruments, and handling devices as required during the procedure. Administer contrast agents or dyes, as directed by the physician, to enhance visibility of blood vessels or organs on imaging. Monitor the patient's vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels, during the procedure and report any changes to the medical team.
  • Patient Safety and Comfort: Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the procedure, positioning the patient appropriately to obtain optimal images while preventing injury. Take precautions to minimize radiation exposure to both the patient and the healthcare team by following radiation safety protocols, using shielding, and optimizing imaging settings. Monitor patients for signs of complications, such as bleeding, infection, or adverse reactions to contrast agents, and report findings to the physician.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) certification and current state licensure. Certification in Interventional Radiology (IR) and/or other relevant certifications preferred. Experience working in interventional radiology and/or related field with knowledge of radiation safety protocols and principles.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure under pressure. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to interact positively with patients, families, medical staff, and administrative personnel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks requiring prolonged standing, bending, lifting, and pushing/pulling heavy objects.
Benefits:
  • A competitive salary and tax-free stipend package based on 10 hour shifts and 40 hours per week.
  • The opportunity to work with Magnet Medical, a leading provider of high-quality healthcare services in Illinois.
  • A comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as paid time off and holidays.
