Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at Healthcare Staffing Plus. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will be responsible for operating imaging equipment and ensuring the safety of all medical staff and patients from unnecessary radiation exposure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operating imaging equipment and ensuring the safety of all medical staff and patients from unnecessary radiation exposure.
  • Maintaining and operating cameras that detect and map radioactive drugs in a patient's body to create diagnostic images.
  • Positioning patients and selecting anatomic and technical factors accurately.
  • Ordering, preparing, administering, and disposing of radiopharmaceuticals according to established protocols.
  • Following radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensuring prompt submission of high-quality images and documents sent to PACS.
  • Ensuring equipment is properly functioning.
  • Reporting potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel.
  • Locking/tagging out equipment if appropriate.
  • Assisting in maintaining a clean and orderly department.
Requirements:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • National Institutes of Health (NIH)
  • Certified Principal Investigator (CPI) Certification
  • Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
  • The ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Strong technical skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Passionate about patient care
  • The nuclear medicine technologist must be certified as an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) with Nuclear Medicine and/or NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board).
  • Required a minimum of two years of experience.
  • Graduate from a fully accredited Radiology Tech/Nuclear Medicine program

  • Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Participates in relevant continuing education programs.
  • Knowledge of and dedication to the highest patient care and provide the utmost service excellence to all patients.
  • Ability to take initiative and to exercise independent judgment, decision-making and problem-solving expertise.
  • A can-do, team-oriented attitude is essential, as the ability to work independently and to interact easily with physicians, other managers and staff throughout the department and hospital.
  • Effective interpersonal/communication, organizational, and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks.
