Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Peer Support Specialist to join our team at The Guidance Center. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in delivering peer support services to Mental Health Court participants, promoting recovery, and facilitating participant engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver peer support services to MHC participants, consistent with existing Medicaid guidelines.
  • Promote and model recovery, facilitate participant engagement, and help participants develop skills necessary to access community resources and pursue their recovery goals.
  • Facilitate educational workshops, support groups, and recovery-oriented activities for MHC participants.
  • Participate in MHC treatment team meetings, case conferences, and review hearings, and work collaboratively with the treatment team to help participants successfully complete the program.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have experience receiving mental health treatment and/or recovery support services.
  • Recipients of community mental health services are preferred.
  • Peers must be willing to use their own recovery experience as a vehicle to helping others.
  • Additional requirements include a nonjudgmental approach that reflects cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique needs and diverse experiences of adults with mental illness, their families, and supporters.
