Job Title: Automotive Interior Repair Specialist

Job Summary:

Don's Auto Interiors & Tops is seeking an experienced Automotive Interior Repair Specialist to join our team. As an Automotive Interior Repair Specialist, you will be responsible for repairing, replacing, and installing upholstery and convertible tops in a variety of vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Upholstery Repair & Replacement:
    • Repair, replace, and install automotive upholstery components, such as seats, headliners, door panels, and carpeting.
    • Accurately measure, cut, and sew materials like fabric, vinyl, and leather to meet customer specifications.
    • Remove and replace damaged or worn-out upholstery, ensuring a seamless and durable finish.
  • Convertible Top Installation & Repair:
    • Replace and install convertible tops on various makes and models.
    • Ensure convertible tops are aligned and installed securely for optimal functionality and aesthetics.
    • Repair or replace convertible top mechanisms as needed.
  • Custom Upholstery Work:
    • Create custom designs based on customer requests, including specialized stitching, patterns, and material selection.
    • Collaborate with clients to understand their vision and provide recommendations on materials and finishes.
  • Quality Control:
    • Perform inspections on all completed work to ensure high standards of quality, safety, and durability.
    • Address any issues or imperfections before returning the vehicle to the customer.
  • Tool & Equipment Use:
    • Utilize industrial sewing machines, cutting tools, hand tools, and specialized upholstery equipment.
    • Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Workplace Maintenance:
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency.
    • Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with shop policies.
  • Customer Service:
    • Communicate effectively with customers, explaining the work process and setting realistic expectations for timelines and costs.
    • Provide excellent customer service, ensuring a positive experience for every client.

Requirements:

  • At least 2+ years of experience in automotive upholstery or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of different materials such as leather, vinyl, and fabric, as well as techniques for working with these materials.
  • Experience with convertible top repair and installation is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, sewing machines, and other upholstery equipment.
  • Keen attention to detail and craftsmanship.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
