The Senior Estimator at Sundt is a crucial role in preconstruction teams, requiring minimal oversight and serving as the primary point of contact with design teams and owners. This position demands competence in basic and advanced estimating functions, including earthwork, paving, underground utilities, and structures on transit, civil infrastructure, and highway projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed take-offs, solicit quotes, and create cost estimates for various project scopes.
  • Analyze crew composition, production rates, and equipment selection to estimate unit costs.
  • Participate in detailed reviews, providing thorough explanations of estimates.
  • Utilize relevant cost history databases to verify production rates.
  • Prepare supplier bid packages to ensure competitive material quotes.
Minimum Job Requirements
  • A four-year engineering degree or equivalent technical training and/or related experience.
  • Ten or more years of experience in an estimating role, preferably with project experience in one or more key market sectors identified by the business unit.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • LEED accreditation and DBIA certification are preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Frequent use of personal protective equipment, including steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hats, vests, etc.
  • Occasional climbing of stairs, ladders, and frequent reaching above shoulder heights and below the waist.
