Telemetry Monitoring Technician

We are seeking a skilled Telemetry Monitoring Technician to join our team at the University of California-Davis Health. As a Telemetry Monitoring Technician, you will be responsible for independently observing, interpreting, and responding to telemetry waveform data. You will maintain records and documentation of waveforms in patient medical records and report changes in rate/rhythm to nurses and/or physicians for urgent and/or non-urgent intervention.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain operation of Central Monitoring station and monitoring software system in collaboration with Clinical Engineering.
- Coordinate availability of transmitters, lead cables, and other monitoring supplies.
- Train/educate nurses new to telemetry waveform assessment strategies and provide orientation to the Central Monitoring station operations and equipment.
- Assess and interpret EKG telemetry waveforms and observation data.
- Read, write, speak, and understand the English language and clearly convey information and explanations to patients, visitors, and staff personally or by telephone/intercom.
- Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) issued through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) issued through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
- Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to interpret and understand the basic issue regarding patient's diagnosis and treatment plans that impact on EKG waveforms.
- Knowledge of legal implications in clinical practice and documentation.
- Knowledge of performance improvement and evidence-based practice.
- Computer skills to use Central Telemetry Monitoring Systems and unit level computer systems and printers.
- Visual acuity to observe central monitoring screens and interpret fine print/lines of EKG strips.
This is a critical position, as defined by UC policy and local procedures, and as such, employment is contingent upon successful completion of background check(s), including but not limited to criminal record history background check(s). This position is designated as a mandated reporter under CANRA and UC policy, and employment is contingent on compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and training requirements.
