**Job Overview**


Hennepin County's Transportation Operations department is seeking an experienced Equipment Maintenance Technician to join its team. This individual will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and performing diagnostics on a variety of equipment, including hybrid, electric, gas cars and pickups, emergency vehicles, medium and heavy-duty gas or diesel trucks, construction equipment, trailers, small engines, and powersport equipment.

**Job Summary**


This Equipment Maintenance Technician position is a key role within the Transportation Operations department. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of equipment, including:



  • Hybrid, electric, gas cars and pickups
  • Emergency vehicles
  • Medium and heavy-duty gas or diesel trucks
  • Construction equipment, including loaders, graders, and skid steers
  • Trailers
  • Small engines
  • Powersport equipment

The Equipment Maintenance Technician will also be responsible for performing diagnostics and troubleshooting on equipment to identify and rectify technical issues.


**Requirements and Qualifications**


To be successful in this role, the candidate will need to have:



  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of experience in equipment maintenance and repair
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labor and lift heavy equipment
