Job Summary:

This position involves working collaboratively with parents, students, and school personnel to develop and implement effective Individual Education Plans (IEPs) aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field and hold valid Special Education Certification. Additionally, the candidate should have De-Escalation/Restraint Certification and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) training.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement IEPs, including behavior intervention plans, for students with special needs.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure understanding and implementation of intervention strategies.
  • Provide on-campus staff training on social and behavioral interventions and supports.
  • Direct, train, and oversee the activities of educational setting paraprofessionals.
  • Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings and prepare necessary paperwork.

Additional Requirements:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with parents, students, and school personnel.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to state and federal laws.
  • Valid Driver's license and CDL Certification preferred for coaching a UIL sport.

Work Environment:

The work environment involves occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting work-related items weighing less than 40 pounds. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required.
