Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller to join our team in the healthcare/medical industry. This role is critical to our organization, as it involves managing the Accounts Receivable (AR), Revenue and billing functions of our healthcare organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of medical billing and collections for our healthcare organization.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the AR department to ensure accurate and timely management of all Accounts Receivable aging components.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain systems, methodologies, and procedures for billing.
  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of billing practices and make recommendations for improved operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with payers and providers.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies related to billing and collections.
  • Train, mentor, and provide direction to the AR team.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline billing procedures and ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy of billing data and revenue cycle processes.
  • Prepare and present reports on billing activities and effectiveness to senior management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical billing and collections, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Proven experience in managing the revenue cycle, including patient billing, insurance reimbursement, and collections.
  • Expert knowledge of medical billing procedures, codes, and regulations.
  • Proficient in using medical software and billing systems.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
