Job Summary

Simile Construction Service is seeking a highly skilled Accounting Clerk to join our team in Modesto. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for reconciling revenues, preparing bank account deposit documents, and participating in the end-of-month closing process.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting procedures, as well as excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. If you are a detail-oriented and organized individual with a passion for finance, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile all revenues collected on a daily basis.
  • Prepare bank account deposit documents and confirm deposit totals.
  • Post accounting data by hand or by computer data entry on a daily basis.
  • Participate in completing end-of-month closing process.
  • Maintain and serve as a point of contact with the Administrative Offices concerning accounting issues.
  • Answer incoming calls and provide routine information in response to inquiries.
  • Cross-train to provide assistance as necessary in the areas of accounts receivable, accounts payable, expenditure of funds, and budget preparation.
  • Maintain general and subsidiary ledgers and journals.
  • Post debits and credits, record receipts and balances.
  • Examine and record financial transactions and charges to proper departmental accounts.
  • Compile data for certified payroll and work with project compliance officer.
  • Compile data for preparation of periodic reports.
  • Assist in resolving accounting discrepancies.
  • Disburse funds by preparing and issuing checks for authorized signatures.
  • Initialize new jobs in the Accounting program.
  • Monthly billing on all Contract jobs, review all active jobs monthly for billing status.
  • Mail monthly statements to customers.
  • Assist in establishing report needs.
  • Other duties as assigned, including making American Contractors an effective tool in the office.
