Job Summary

West Bay Collaborative seeks a highly skilled and dedicated Behavioral Intervention Specialist to join our team. In this critical role, you will work closely with educators and other staff to develop and implement effective behavioral interventions for students with challenging behaviors. Your expertise will enable students to succeed in school and community, while also providing support to staff and students in crisis situations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with educators to design and implement behavioral programs for students with challenging behaviors.
  • Collect and analyze data to monitor the effectiveness of behavioral interventions.
  • Communicate regularly with staff and administration to ensure seamless implementation of behavioral programs.
  • Provide direct support to students at-risk, helping them develop appropriate behaviors and conflict resolution skills.
  • Support staff and students in crisis situations, including the use of physical intervention when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Site Administrator or Director of Special Education.

Requirements
  • Certification as a Teaching Assistant from the Rhode Island Department of Education or completion of a B.A. or B.S. in a related field (Sociology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, etc.).
  • Relevant work experience and effectiveness with a population that exhibits challenging behaviors.
  • Knowledge and understanding of health, safety, and emergency procedures in a school environment.
  • Possession of a current Chauffeur's license or ability to obtain one.
  • Training and competency in Crisis Intervention/Mediation preferred or ability to successfully complete training on hire.
  • Sufficient maturity, self-confidence, and work habits to serve as a role model to students.
  • Clear record on Criminal Background Check.
