Job Description

This role provides legal advocacy services to our emergency shelter residents, legal clinic attendees, and court clients. The successful candidate will work closely with community organizations and law enforcement systems to provide effective support and resources to those in need.

  • Advocacy Services: Provide accompaniment during legal proceedings, assist clients in gathering information connected to immigration, and help clients with anti-harassment, sexual assault, and domestic violence protection orders.
  • Client Support: Offer information about safety planning, maintain accurate statistics on clients, and enter data into InfoNet.
  • Community Outreach: Organize and attend bi-monthly legal clinics, participate in outreach and education to rural communities, and collaborate with other SafePlace program Interns and clients.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. They should also be able to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and demonstrate a commitment to client confidentiality.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, one year of experience providing crisis intervention and/or sexual and domestic violence advocacy, and a basic understanding of the court system and law enforcement procedures. A valid driver's license, current automobile liability insurance, and a telephone are also required.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is preferred, as is completion of the initial SafePlace ACT training.

Salary and Benefits
