About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at Ochsner Clinic Foundation. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with various medical conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify physician orders and procedures to ensure accuracy
- Operate radiology information systems to facilitate patient care
- Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
- Independently operate equipment to complete imaging procedures according to protocol
- Review patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality standards
- Lead departmental programs, protocol development, system standardization, competency validation, safety programs, accreditation, and quality/efficiency initiatives
- Assist in the orientation and training of junior staff; provide feedback to annual staff evaluations
Requirements
- Completion of an approved nuclear medicine program
- Registered in Nuclear Medicine by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or equivalent body as recognized by the American College of Radiology (ACR), or Intersocietal Commission Accreditation Nuclear Medicine Laboratories (ICANL) OR registry eligible, registered within 90 days of employment, and temporary state license
- Current unrestricted license in state of practice
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue. The incumbent works in a patient care area; works in an area where patients enter; works directly with patients; and/or works with specimens that could contain diseases. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.
Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
