About the Job:


This Health Promotion Specialist position is a crucial part of the NE Region of Public Health Division, working closely with internal and external partners to support population health equity activities.


The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of community assessment and planning, experience working with tribal communities, and the ability to provide trainings and facilitate community coalition building.


This role is responsible for supporting the NE Region and its communities within the greater Rio Arriba area to address health equity issues, including developing health policies and implementing special projects and/or grants.


The successful candidate will be a member of at least one local community, such as a health council, and have a strong network of internal and external partners within the NE Region.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Support the development and implementation of health-related activities to address local needs of groups of people.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to provide data, technical assistance, and other resources to local communities.
  • Assess community readiness and raise awareness on identified health issues.
  • Identify and engage local partners in planning and implementing state initiatives.
  • Facilitate communication between local, regional, and state entities.

Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health or Education.
  • Two years of experience in a health-related field.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Successful completion of required trainings, including Defensive Driving Certificate and HIPAA.

Working Conditions:


The position requires extensive travel throughout the NE Region, potentially within tribal communities and counties.


The work environment is primarily office-based, with extensive use of visual display terminals, personal computers, and phone usage.


Benefits:


This is a bargaining unit position, covered by a collective bargaining agreement, and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply.


Estimated Salary: $47,989 - $76,782 Annually, equivalent to $36.91 per hour.
