Patient Care Coordinator Opportunity

Perspectives, part of the Optum family of businesses, is seeking a Patient Care Coordinator to join our team in Troy, MI. As a clinician-led care organization, we're changing the way clinicians work and live.

As a member of the Optum Behavioral Care Team, you'll be an integral part of our vision to make healthcare better for everyone. Our holistic approach addresses the physical, mental, and social needs of our patients, helping them access and navigate care anytime and anywhere.

As a Patient Care Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing support to clients and the clinical staff. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing reception and clerical support in the clinic's front office
  • Scheduling appointments, taking messages, and responding to the needs of patients and callers
  • Assisting with new clients, including explaining paperwork, verifying completion, and obtaining insurance information
  • Scheduling new clients appropriately and sending notifications regarding upcoming appointments and cancellations
  • Processing payments for co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, self-pay, and missed appointments fees
  • Securing patient information and maintaining patient confidentiality

Required Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma/GED
  • 1+ years of experience in an office environment, preferably in a mental health or medical setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with computers for professional communication and medical documentation
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology
  • Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions
  • Written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
