Cayuga Health System, a leading provider of healthcare services, is seeking a highly skilled Cardiology Physician/System Medical Director to join our team in picturesque Ithaca, New York.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Care:
    • Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations and assessments to provide high-quality patient care.
    • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans for patients, taking into account their unique needs and medical histories.
    • Prescribe medication and other appropriate therapies to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
    • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging to inform treatment decisions.
    • Perform medical procedures and surgeries when necessary, always prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
    • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to ensure the best possible outcomes.
    • Provide patient education to empower patients to take an active role in their healthcare.
  • Communication:
    • Effectively communicate with patients, families, and colleagues to ensure seamless care coordination and patient satisfaction.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in a timely fashion to ensure continuity of care.
  • Clinical Expertise:
    • Stay current with the latest medical research, treatments, and technologies to provide evidence-based care.
    • Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME) and peer review activities to stay up-to-date on best practices.
    • Collaborate with other specialists and healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and outcomes.
    • Work collaboratively with Advanced Practice Providers to ensure comprehensive care.
    • Participate in the education of clinical learners (residents, APP students, etc.) to foster the next generation of healthcare professionals.
  • Quality and Safety:
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and ensure safe care.
    • Ensure that all patients receive safe and high-quality care, adhering to the highest standards of medical practice.
  • Ethical and Professional Standards:
    • Adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards of medical practice, upholding patient confidentiality and privacy.
    • Comply with all relevant laws and regulations, ensuring that patient care is delivered in a compliant and safe manner.
Qualifications:
  • Doctorate MD or DO from an accredited medical school required.
  • Must have successfully completed a residency or fellowship commensurate with area of specialty.
  • Be board certified or eligible in the appropriate specialty, by a board acceptable to the hospital.
  • Obtain and maintain an unrestricted Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration.
  • Obtain Medical Staff Privileges within the Health system.
  • Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in applicable state required.
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of evidence-based medicine.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassion, empathy, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and CME.
Working Conditions:
  • Hospital, clinic, or healthcare facility setting.
  • May include on-call and weekend shifts as required.
