About the Role

The International High of New Orleans seeks an experienced Geometry Teacher to join its Mathematics Department. As a key member of the team, you will work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver high-quality instructional programs that foster academic growth and development among high school students.

Job Responsibilities
  • Instructional Leadership:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive schemes of work and lesson plans in accordance with curriculum guidelines.
    • Set clear objectives for all learning activities and communicate them effectively to students.
    • Utilize a variety of instructional materials and resources to enhance learning experiences.
    • Monitor and assess student performance, providing constructive feedback and support as needed.
    • Maintain accurate records of student progress and development.
    • Manage classroom behavior and uphold disciplinary standards in accordance with school policies.
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Design and deliver instructional activities that promote active student engagement and academic achievement.
    • Prepare and submit necessary reports on student progress and classroom activities.
    • Adapt instructional methods and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and special needs.
  • Resource Management:
    • Participate actively in departmental meetings, school events, and parent conferences.
    • Utilize technology effectively to support teaching and learning initiatives.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance instructional practices and maintain a positive learning environment.
    • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with educational trends and best practices.
  • Advocacy:
    • Stay informed about developments in the field of geometry education and adjust instructional plans accordingly.
    • Support extracurricular activities and student organizations to enrich the school community.
    Requirements
    • A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution (required).
    • Valid Louisiana Teaching Certification or eligibility for one.
    • Preferably 2+ years of teaching experience in a high school setting.
    Benefits
    • Competitive salary: $55,000 - $75,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
