Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Facilities Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our facilities operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly school environment. Your duties will include securing rooms and buildings, performing special cleaning and building maintenance tasks, and other related work as required.

Responsibilities
• Clean offices, hallways, workshops, lavatories, classrooms, cafeterias, auditoriums, libraries, gyms, pools, and stairways to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.
• Maintain floors by stripping, mopping, waxing, and buffing them regularly.
• Vacuum rugs and pools to ensure they are clean and free from debris.
• Empty and wash trash containers to prevent unpleasant odors and maintain a healthy environment.
• Wash windows, walls, and woodwork and perform touch-up painting to keep our facilities looking their best.
• Clean erasers, blackboards, chalkboards, desks, cabinets, shelves, and window sills to create a conducive learning environment.
• Sweep sidewalks and curbs and pick up debris from school grounds to maintain a safe and tidy exterior.
• Replace light bulbs to ensure our facilities are well-lit and safe for students and staff.
• Check for broken locks and broken glass, and report any issues that require repair to ensure our facilities remain secure.
• Perform minor repairs on locks, pencil sharpeners, and equipment to minimize downtime and ensure our facilities continue to function smoothly.
• Secure buildings and turn lights and alarms off and on as required.
• Operate buffers, vacuum cleaners, and other custodial equipment with ease and efficiency.
• Raise, lower, fold, and store flags to add a touch of pride and professionalism to our facilities.
• Light and turn off boilers and heaters to optimize energy usage and maintain a comfortable temperature within our facilities.
• Assist in the restoration of buildings and grounds during summer vacation to prepare for the upcoming school year.
• Direct students and visitors to ensure they are aware of their surroundings and behave accordingly.
• Patrol areas to prevent vandalism and theft, and report any incidents to the relevant authorities.
• May supervise student workers to help them develop new skills and gain valuable work experience.
• May be called upon to respond to emergency situations outside of regular working hours.

Requirements and Qualifications
• Possess knowledge of modern cleaning methods, including the use and care of cleaning materials and equipment.
• Be familiar with first aid and safety procedures related to cleaning methods, practices, and equipment.
• Demonstrate the ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency.
• Be able to perform heavy physical labor for extended periods without rest or supervision.
• Show willingness to work without immediate supervision and respond promptly to emergencies as needed.
• Understand and follow a work schedule to meet deadlines and deliver results on time.
• Be able to understand and carry out oral and written directions accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and other stakeholders contacted in the course of work.
• Pass pre-employment functional capacity assessment and physical to demonstrate your ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Qualifications
Some experience in custodial work is highly desirable. You may also have character references who can vouch for your work ethic and integrity.

Education and License
Educational requirements include equivalent to the completion of the eighth grade. Additionally, you must possess a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
