Materials Scientist

Amentum is seeking a highly skilled Materials Engineer to join our team in support of the Cyber Security & Information Assurance (CSIA) Support Services office at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD and Ft Belvoir, VA.
This project will provide the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM), Command, Control, Computers, Communications, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Research (C5ISR) Center services to include programmatic/business management services, engineering support services, field engineering, laboratory, logistics, and acquisition/administrative support services to augment CSIA core Government personnel and turn-key solutions to support the missions of CSIA and its associated Managers and customers.
This support will be conducted in close coordination with Government project leads within CSIA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and process materials used to create a variety of products.
- Work with metals, ceramics, plastics, semi-conductors, and composites to create new materials that meet certain mechanical, electrical, chemical, and other requirements.
- Evaluate technical and economic factors, recommending engineering and manufacturing actions for attainment of design objectives of process or product by applying knowledge of material science and related technologies.
- Review plans for new product and factors, such as strength, weight, and cost, to submit material selection recommendations ensuring attainment of design objectives.
- Plan and implement laboratory operations to develop material and fabrication procedures for new materials to fulfill product cost and performance standards.
- Confer with producers of materials, such as metals, ceramics, or polymers, during investigation and evaluation of materials suitable for specific product applications.
- Review product failure data and interpret laboratory tests and analyses to establish or rule out material and process causes.
- Provide technical knowledge and skill in using specialized applications in emerging Materials.
- Participate as needed in all phases of engineering design and software development with emphasis on the planning, analysis, testing, integration, documentation, and presentation phases.
- Apply principles, methods, and knowledge of the functional area of expertise to specific order requirements and in the process use advanced mathematical principles and methods to arrive at practical, innovative solutions.
- Design and prepare technical reports, data bases, studies, and related documentation, make charts and graphs to record results.
- Prepare and deliver presentations and briefings as required by the order.
- Have knowledge of security requirements for specialized information transfer applications and be skilled in preparing technical reports and providing other services required by the order.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business, or related scientific/technical discipline.
- 10+ years' experience.
- 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
- Must have an Active TOP SECRET US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain a TOP SECRET Clearance.
Compensation:
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $75,000 - $250,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data).
