Job Summary

The American Heart Association is seeking a highly skilled State Government Relations Director to join our team. As a key member of our advocacy team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with state government officials, developing and implementing advocacy strategies, and advancing the Association's public policy agenda.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement advocacy strategies to advance the Association's public policy agenda at the state level
Build and maintain relationships with state government officials, including members of the state legislature and their staff
Collaborate with Association staff, volunteers, and partner organizations to develop and implement advocacy campaigns
Provide policy research and analysis to support advocacy efforts
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including coalition partners and advocacy groups

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in public policy, political science, law, or related field
3+ years of experience in legislative and regulatory lobbying
Proven track record of success in building and maintaining relationships with government officials
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
