Job Title: Surgery Coding Associate

OneOncology is a pioneering organization in the field of cancer care, dedicated to improving the lives of everyone living with cancer. We are seeking a highly skilled Surgery Coding Associate to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Surgery Coding Associate will provide expert coding advice and support to our practices, ensuring accurate and compliant coding practices. This role will be responsible for analyzing data, identifying issues, and proposing strategies for resolution of complex coding issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise practices on best practice surgery coding and provide coding support to ensure accurate and compliant coding practices.
  • Analyze data, identify issues, and propose strategies for resolution of complex coding issues, working closely with leadership.
  • Research and stay up-to-date on billing and coding guidelines for multiple surgical sub-specialties, advising the OneOncology team and partners on coding changes.
  • Keep informed regarding current billing and coding regulations, auditing, professional standards, and effectively apply and disseminate this knowledge.
  • Provide coding education and training as required, identifying process improvement opportunities to enhance the performance of the department/practice.
  • Partner with the management team to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Review medical documentation for accuracy related to payer medical record requests as needed.
  • Ability to effectively code multiple specialties, including medical oncology, radiation oncology, imaging, gyn surgery, breast surgery, pathology, and others.
Qualifications:
  • CPC or other coding certification required.
  • 2+ years of surgery coding experience required.
  • Oncology coding experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in using data to make decisions and drive behavior change in support organizations.
