About the Role

Ascension Seton, a leading non-profit health system, is seeking a skilled Medical Documentation Auditor and Educator to join our team in Austin, Texas.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse with a passion for coding quality audits and staff education. As a Medical Documentation Auditor and Educator, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) audit plan, utilizing audit findings to develop training materials, and educating physicians, mid-level providers, and ancillary staff on CDI best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee the CDI audit plan, utilizing evidence-based knowledge, protocols, and documentation criteria.
  • Utilize audit findings to develop formal and informal training materials related to CDI best practices.
  • Implement and facilitate training with CDI staff, physicians, clinical, and ancillary staff to improve the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation.
  • Assist Health Information Management leadership in developing meaningful goals, metrics, and targets representing CDI's work performance and provider documentation performance.
  • Establish relationships with physicians, other healthcare team members, and the coding team to communicate the benefits of complete and accurate documentation.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Registered Nurse, or 3-5 years' experience in coding quality audits.
  • ICU and/or ED nursing experience is preferred.
