Job Title: Quality Improvement Nurse

Vidant Health is a multi-specialty group with over 600 providers in more than 140 primary and specialty clinics across more than 110 locations in eastern North Carolina.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Quality Improvement Nurse to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying improvement methods to achieve successful outcomes, promoting the use of improvement methods and science throughout the organization, and synthesizing information from relevant resources to demonstrate current practice and identify opportunities for improvement.

Responsibilities:
1. Analyze information from disparate sources, including comparative data, benchmarks, and evidence-based practices, to identify opportunities for improvement and develop recommendations for stakeholders.
2. Communicate improvement priorities and results using narrative and visual tools, including graphs and charts, to accurately reflect valid interpretation of findings.
3. Design and develop project plans, including providing project coordination, measurement plans, estimates of costs, and incorporation of evidence-based guidelines.
4. Promote a safety culture and infrastructure by engaging stakeholders, modeling behaviors that promote a safety culture, educating staff, and supporting adoption of high reliability principles.
5. Apply methods to identify and evaluate risks for harm, including using assessment tools and methods appropriate for identification of potential and actual patient safety risks.
6. Advance patient/person and family-centered strategies that enhance safety and quality by promoting and encouraging opportunities for patient/family engagement and incorporating patient/family feedback into improvement plans.
7. Demonstrate knowledge of regulations and standards applicable to healthcare settings, including remaining current on changes in standards and regulations, evaluating regulations using authoritative interpretive resources, and providing expert analysis to synthesize regulations and interpretive guidance.
8. Guide practice and operations with applicable regulations or standards by assessing policies and practice, conducting audits to ensure compliance, and utilizing education techniques to enhance knowledge and understanding of standards with front-line staff.
9. Provide oversight for planned and unannounced surveys, including presurvey, onsite survey, and post survey activities, and analyze overall reports by prioritizing them by severity and risk to communicate findings.
10. Facilitate the development and monitoring of action plans for noncompliant findings, including assisting with the preparation of an action plan in response to survey or audit reports and developing data collection tools for auditing/monitoring measures of success/compliance with standards.
11. Advance a continuous readiness culture by participating in readiness activities, integrating continuous readiness activities into everyday workflows, and conducting continuous readiness rounding and tracers.
12. Apply knowledge of ongoing professional practice evaluation, focused professional practice evaluation, and requisite structures and processes, including applying applicable regulations and standards to OPPE and FPPE work, coordinating reviews for OPPE and FPPE processes, and developing processes to support practitioner practice reviews.
13. Communicate accountability and reporting requirements and organization impact to internal and external stakeholders, including defining stakeholders, developing methods or plans to disseminate information, clarifying expectations and accountability for creating action plans, and monitoring action plans.
14. Manage performance improvement opportunities from accountability reports and ensure follow-through, including designing processes to monitor and trend internally and externally reported data, applying improvement tools to areas of opportunities, and assisting with action plan development.
15. Demonstrate knowledge of the impact of healthcare payment models as they apply to quality measurement and improvement programs, including recognizing evolving types of payment models and associated measures, assessing financial impact to the organization, and educating teams on payment models and cost management.
16. Analyze the appropriate utilization of healthcare services, including applying evidence-based criteria along with regulatory and payer requirements to ensure applicable standards of care met, using tools to analyze quality outcomes based on reimbursement criteria, applying risk assessment methods in identifying optimal care processes and outcomes, and preparing provider-specific utilization reports with benchmarking of internal and external peers.
17. Collaborate with providers to ensure complete and timely documentation to maximize payment and minimize details, applying organization-specific risk calculations when analyzing the utilization of services.

Requirements:
1. Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) or Associate's of Science degree in Nursing (ADN) if Bachelors Degree in non-nursing field.
2. 5 years experience in healthcare setting.
3. Certification in specialty preferred in 3 years and recertified every 2 years.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time weekday position, working 8:00am - 5:00pm, with a rotation between various clinic sites in Washington, Belhaven, and Chocowinity. No nights, weekends, or call.
