Job Summary

As an Ophthalmic Technician at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our medical team in delivering high-quality eye care services. Your expertise will be essential in assisting with patient examinations, performing diagnostic tests, and maintaining accurate medical records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Screen patients for chief complaints, take accurate histories, and perform ophthalmic testing as needed.
  • Assist providers in caring for patients with predictable ophthalmic needs and more acute conditions.
  • Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring a sterile and organized environment.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including data entry, phone calls, and correspondence with patients and other departments.
  • Collaborate with the medical team to ensure seamless patient care and efficient clinic operations.
Requirements
  • Two years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or completion of a JCAHPO-accredited program.
  • Registered Medical Assistant (Washington) certification within two months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification within one month of hire.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three to five years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in a group ophthalmological practice or environment.
  • Familiarity with EpicCare or electronic medical records systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites.
  • COA, COT, or COMT certification through JCAHPO.
