Overview

The Anesthesia Specialist provides exceptional anesthetic care to patients in an ambulatory surgery center. This role is ideal for a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.

Job Description

As an Anesthesia Specialist at UPMC Mercy Pavilion, you will have the opportunity to work in a cutting-edge environment with state-of-the-art facilities. You will be responsible for administering anesthesia, monitoring patients' reactions to sedatives and anesthetic agents, and informing the anesthesiologist of any adverse conditions that may threaten patient safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer anesthesia and related care, including pre-anesthetic preparation, induction, maintenance, emergence, post-anesthesia care, and peri-anesthesia support.
  • Assumes responsibility and is accountable for controlled substances according to department and hospital policy and State and federal guidelines.
  • Assists with the teaching and evaluation of newly hired CRNAs, GRNAs, and SRNAs.
  • Performs according to established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A graduate degree from an accredited nurse anesthesia education program.
  • Knowledgeable regarding controlled substance policies in accordance with Federal and State laws.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Board Certified, Recertified or eligible by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists.
