Route Supervisor

Job Summary:

Interstate Batteries is seeking a skilled Route Supervisor to manage, train, and develop delivery drivers. The successful candidate will partner with site leadership to establish and communicate performance metrics, ensuring the team meets or exceeds these goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, train, and develop delivery drivers
  • Partner with site leadership to establish and communicate performance metrics
  • Prepare and distribute reports to drivers
  • Maintain knowledge of operation's overall financial results
  • Ensure drivers comply with all DOT and safety rules and regulations
  • Ensure vehicle fleet is maintained and serviced timely and properly
  • Maintain regular contact with dealers to obtain feedback on service quality
  • Fill in for drivers when needed
  • Help load, unload, and count trucks as needed
  • Maintain a weekly ride-along schedule
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High school graduate (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of two years sales, customer service, and delivery experience
  • 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Prior sales management experience highly desirable
  • Must demonstrate excellent leadership and management skills
  • Knowledge of all relevant DOT and safety rules and regulations is required
  • Strong written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Depending on location, may be required to cover routes requiring overnight stops
  • Be able to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
  • Must successfully complete a post-offer criminal background check and drug test prior to beginning work

Work Environment:

  • Exposed to battery warehouse conditions such as exposure to moving equipment, mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Regularly required to use hands to grasp or handle, talk and hear, stand and walk
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
