Job Summary

As a Special Procedures Nurse at The University of Chicago Medicine, you will be part of a world-class academic healthcare system. You will provide technically complex and high-risk nursing care services to patients, including sedation, intravenous infusions, and complex procedures. You will work under the direction of an Attending Physician or a licensed independent practitioner and be responsible for providing care to patients in a compassionate and empathetic manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technically complex and high-risk nursing care services to patients, including sedation, intravenous infusions, and complex procedures.
  • Work under the direction of an Attending Physician or a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Provide care to patients in a compassionate and empathetic manner.
  • Accurately complete required patient assessment, documentation, and interpretations for each patient encounter.
  • Recognize patient conditions requiring immediate actions and initiate appropriate life-supporting interventions while communicating appropriately with physicians.
Requirements
  • RN required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the State of Illinois.
  • Current CPR, ACLS, and/or PALS certifications.
