Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Health Technician to join our team at the Hampton VA Medical Center. As a Health Technician, you will play a critical role in the receiving, accessioning, and specimen processing area, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and process blood samples for laboratory testing, adhering to strict protocols and guidelines.
  • Identify and label specimens accurately, ensuring proper chain of custody and handling.
  • Perform phlebotomy procedures with precision and care, minimizing the risk of contamination and error.
  • Operate computerized systems to manage patient data and laboratory results.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to ensure seamless patient care and communication.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with a focus on phlebotomy and specimen processing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
