Animal Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Animal Care Specialist to join our team at Vets Pets.
Job DescriptionThe ideal candidate will have a passion for providing exceptional care to animals and a strong desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
The Animal Care Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the overall health and well-being of our hospitalized and boarded pets. This includes administering medication, feeding, walking, and monitoring their behavior and overall health status.
The specialist will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients and clients.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Administer medication to pets in accordance with veterinarian's orders.
- Provide regular exercise and walking services to pets.
- Monitor pets' behavior and overall health status, reporting any concerns to veterinarians or management.
- Assist with basic grooming services such as bathing, brushing, and nail trimming.
- Maintain a clean and sanitized environment, including kennels, cages, and common areas.
- Manage inventory of supplies, notifying management when replenishment is required.
- Collaborate with veterinarians and technicians on procedures as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service to clients, answering questions and providing updates on their pets' status.
- Fulfill all hospital policies and procedures, including those related to safety, infection control, and patient confidentiality.
To be successful as an Animal Care Specialist, you must possess the following qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience working with animals, preferably in a veterinary setting.
- The ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime as needed.
- Comfortable handling a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, and exotics.
