Job Summary

The Patient Services Specialist 2 plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care in a physician office, clinic, or other operational area. This position provides administrative support to patients, ensuring a seamless experience from check-in to check-out. Key responsibilities include patient relations, scheduling, insurance verification, and answering phones. Additionally, this role may involve training and mentoring junior Patient Services Specialists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients and visitors by performing patient-related duties, including check-in or check-out, scheduling, insurance verification, and answering phone inquiries.
  • Register patients by collecting and verifying insurance information, verifying patient demographics, and entering changes into the computer system.
  • Accept payments for physician/clinic services according to established guidelines, post payments, and enter charges into the computer using appropriate codes.
  • Respond to routine escalated inquiries concerning services, hours of operation, and patient complaints.
  • Aid with medical records duties by pulling charts for scheduled and walk-in appointments, prescription refills, and other requests.
  • Help in training, mentoring, and providing support to junior staff as requested.
Requirements
  • Excellent listening, social, and communication (oral and written) skills, and professional, good, and respectful telephone etiquette.
  • Knowledge of patient registration procedures and documentation.
  • Knowledge of medical insurance claims procedures and documentation, including thorough knowledge of the Out of Network process.
  • Skilled in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Skilled in preparing and maintaining patient records.
  • Able to examine unpaid third-party claims and delinquent accounts to resolve appropriate follow-up actions to ensure payment.
  • Able to mentor and train staff.

Qualifications
  • EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent.
  • EXPERIENCE - 1 Year of Experience.
