Caregiver for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Care Worker to join our team at Communicare. This role involves providing personalized care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

About Communicare:

• We are a community mental health center serving Calhoun, Lafayette, Marshall, Panola, Tate, and Yalobusha counties in North Central Mississippi.
• We offer specialized treatment services for adults with serious mental illness, children with serious emotional disturbances, individuals with substance abuse disorders, and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Compensation and Benefits:

The hourly wage for this position is $11 per hour. As a full-time employee, you will be eligible for a range of benefits, including medical insurance, critical illness insurance, life/AD&D/long-term disability insurance, dental/vision/term life/cancer coverage, retirement plan, 403-B matching, 11 holidays per year, 15 annual leave days per year (18 days after 3 years of employment), 15 sick leave days per year, professional development leave, jury leave, and military leave.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including assistance with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and household chores.
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment for the individuals we serve, adhering to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
• Develop and implement individualized plans to promote socialization, skills development, and independence for the individuals we serve.
• Transport individuals to various activities, appointments, and outings as needed.
• Participate in team meetings and collaborate with other staff members to ensure high-quality care and support for our clients.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CPI certification or ability to complete CPI training and any other required training.
• Able to provide transportation to individuals being served and maintain a valid driver's license, automobile insurance, and an insurable driving record.
