Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CT Technologist to join our team at Waterbury Hospital. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures using computed tomography (CT) scanners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct CT scans and other diagnostic imaging procedures with minimal supervision, utilizing advanced medical imaging knowledge and technical skills.
  • Interview patients, explain procedures, and prepare them for examinations, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Schedule tests, determine appropriate protocols, and integrate with hospital information systems (HIS), radiology information systems (RIS), and picture archiving and communication systems (PACS).
  • Acquire and review images, sending them to PACS for final verification and interpretation.
  • Maintain accreditation status with the American College of Radiology (ACR) standards and ensure compliance with radiation protection regulations.
  • Assist radiologists in specialized procedures, such as tumor localization and guided biopsies.
  • Document exams into the radiology system, ensuring proper billing and patient data accuracy.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control tasks, adhering to ACR guidelines and ALARA principles.
  • Transport patients when necessary and maintain a clean and safe patient care area.
Requirements
  • Basic computer skills and ability to access internet and other programs applicable to Waterbury Hospital procedures.
  • Registration and certification with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) and licensure with the State of Connecticut.
  • Advanced certification from the ARRT in Computerized Tomography within one year of hire.
  • Full knowledge of CT exams and interventional procedures, with the ability to perform exams independently.
  • Complete working knowledge of physics, anatomy, medical terminology, sterile technique, and radiation protection as it relates to CT practice.
