Clinical Laboratory Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for providing clinical services to our patient population and working closely with our senior staff to ensure the highest level of patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Perform clinical analysis in the Department of Laboratories Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory
- Assist in the development and implementation of new diagnostic procedures
- Collaborate with senior staff to set up equipment and procedures, modify and update existing procedures, and develop overall departmental procedure manuals
- Provide instruction to house staff, pathology residents, and fellows, nursing staff, and fellow laboratory technologists in current laboratory theory and technique
- Efficiently use hospital and departmental computer information systems
- Rotate between Cytogenetics and Molecular Diagnostics Laboratories and perform clinical testing in the lab, as assigned
- NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with 0-2 years demonstrated relevant experience
- SL-2: Clinical Laboratory Technologist III: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with 3-5 years demonstrated relevant experience
- SL-3 Clinical Laboratory Technologist II: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with a minimum 6 years demonstrated relevant experience
- Experience in Molecular Biology, PCR, real-time PCR, and sequencing
