Overview

This role is a key member of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Lighting Department, reporting directly to the Lighting Department Manager. We are seeking an experienced Lighting Supervisor to join our team and assist in the daily supervision, instruction, and discipline of Lighting Department staff.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Lighting Department Manager in creating weekly schedules for load-ins, hangs, focuses, notes, maintenance, changeovers, work calls, show calls, special events, and mid- and end-of-season strikes.
  • Evaluate lighting plots for efficacy and maintainability throughout the season, collaborating with the Lighting Department Manager, Repertory Lighting Designer, and Lead Electricians.
  • Work with the Department Manager and Lead Electricians to instruct crew members in the safe installation and use of lighting equipment, lighting consoles, departmental SOPs, show-specific practicals/electrics, special effects equipment, counterweight arbor fly systems, and permanent or temporary rigging apparatus.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of professional experience in theatrical or live event lighting design or electrics, plus 3 years of experience as a crew leader in a professional theater or live event setting.
  • Experience working as a Head/Lead/Master Electrician in a regional theater environment.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and ability to research new techniques/materials/solutions.
  • Ability to lead multiple projects and navigate shifting and competing priorities with patience and diplomacy.
  • Familiarity with video systems, Watchout media servers, OSC, MIDI, SMPTE timecode protocols, and ETC family consoles and dimmers.
Benefits

This exempt position requires night-time and weekend hours, as well as variable or split-shift schedules. A competitive salary range is $60,000-$80,000 per year, depending on experience.
