Careers in Skilled Nursing Facility Speech Therapy

As a skilled nursing facility speech-language pathologist, you will play a critical role in helping patients who are ill, injured or disabled regain independence and quality of life.
About the RoleYou will help patients with swallowing, speaking, understanding and other speech-related tasks they need to function. This involves reviewing medical histories, developing and implementing speech therapy treatment plans, recommending equipment, and monitoring patient progress.
Responsibilities- Review medical histories to develop effective treatment plans
- Implement and monitor speech therapy treatment plans
- Recommend equipment to aid in patient recovery
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
To be successful in this role, you must have at least 1 year of recent experience as a speech language pathologist in a skilled nursing facility. You must also hold a degree in a relevant field and be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS). A current state license is also required.
