Job Summary:

As a Respiratory Therapist II at Northern Light Health, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. You will collect and analyze sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine oxygenation and ventilation status. Additionally, you will measure lung volumes and capacities, deliver inhaled medication as prescribed, and perform a variety of chest physiotherapies to aid in the treatment of pulmonary disease.

Responsibilities:

Initiate and manage mechanical ventilators
Insert and/or care for artificial airways
Conduct patient assessments, administer medications, and recommend therapy
Interpret clinical data and provide recommendations
Participate in the Rapid Response Team, Code Team, Trauma Team, and Sepsis team as applicable
Participate in multi-disciplinary rounds in critical care areas and educate students/other staff
Maintain a safe environment and report environmental hazards and patient safety policy violations

Requirements:

2+ years of relative work experience
Graduate of a 2-year Associate Degree or a 4-year Baccalaureate Degree NBRC approved Respiratory Therapy Program
Maine State professional license and meet the current license eligibility requirements of the NBRC
BLS certification
Registered Respiratory Therapist credential
Demonstrates advanced knowledge and proficient practice in the role

Working Conditions:

Lifting, moving, and loading 20 to 30 pounds
Prolonged periods of standing and walking
Alternate shift schedules (day, evening, nights, weekends)
