Job Overview

The Maryland Department of Information Technology is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Fiscal Policy Intern to join our finance and budget team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for reviewing existing process documentation, developing a detailed work plan, and identifying subject matter experts for key accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze existing process documentation for departmental structure and relevant accounting principles
  • Develop a detailed work plan with timelines, deliverables, and resource allocation
  • Identify subject matter experts for each key accounting process and update policy and procedures
  • Conduct interviews with subject matter experts and document detailed information on daily, monthly, and yearly close tasks
  • Develop interview questionnaires and conduct individual interviews with identified subject matter experts
  • Document detailed written procedures for each step of the process, including roles and responsibilities
  • Develop flowcharts and process mapping tools to document each accounting business process
  • Document key performance indicators for each process and develop an accounting manual

Requirements

  • Candidate must be a Junior, Senior, or graduate student studying business, accounting, public administration, policy, or another related field
  • Student must be a Maryland resident or attend school in MD or DC
  • Student must have a 3.0 GPA or higher and will be asked to provide their transcript
