Job Summary

We are seeking a Medical Imaging Specialist - CT Technologist to conduct procedures and tests using Computerized Tomography (CT) equipment to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data.

Schedule: Friday-Saturday-Sunday, 7 p.m.-7:30 a.m.

Responsibilities
  • Patient Identification: Verify patient identification, obtain patient history, assist patients and family members requiring extra attention, ensure patient understanding, and prioritize patient safety.
  • CT Scans: Obtain images per protocols, manipulate images according to protocols, perform multi-planar and 3D reconstruction of image data, demonstrate thorough knowledge of CT algorithms, and select appropriate window and level settings.
  • Contrast: Administer oral contrast to adult and pediatric patients according to protocols, establish intravenous lines, administer IV contrast following safe and proper injection procedures, follow correct procedures to determine contrast eligibility, check lab values before contrast injection per protocol.
  • Image Transfer: Maintain thorough understanding of PACS, transmit images to QC, UNCH's EMR, EPIC, and PACS, verify and segment images at the QC station, access IMPAX service tools to verify image transmission, complete, modify, or cancel orders in a timely manner, avoid duplicate billing, and ensure accurate charge information.
  • Other Duties: Perform tasks in a timely manner, run schedules creating consistent workflows, volunteer for challenging tasks and difficult procedures, produce quality diagnostic images, review patient charts and reports, maintain clean and orderly work environments, document incidents as improvement opportunities, and precept new employees and students.
Requirements

To be eligible for this role, you must:

  • Hold a completion of an accredited educational program in Radiological Science or completion within three months at time of application.
  • Be registered with the American Registry of Radiological Sciences or registry eligible, providing a copy of diploma from accredited program if registry eligible.
  • Obtain advanced certification in CT within one year of employment.
  • Maintain current competency in HCP BLS annually.
  • Have prior education, training, and experience providing ability to perform assigned tasks.
Salary and Benefits

This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $27.89-$40.09 per hour, with pay determined by experience and internal equity. As a State employee, you will receive UNC Health benefits and participate in the retirement plan. You may continue participating in TSERS or ORP if currently employed by another North Carolina agency.

Work Environment

This position is exempt from overtime and requires weekend work, specifically Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, from 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. The location is in Hillsborough, NC.
