As a Powerful GPU Architect Lead, you'll play a vital role in shaping the future of graphics processing units (GPUs) and unlocking new possibilities for our customers, partners, and developers.

We're looking for an exceptional candidate who can lead our team of experts in designing and developing innovative GPU architectures that meet the demands of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and high-performance computing.

About the Role:

  • You will be responsible for leading the development of power-efficient GPU architectures that can scale from cost- and power-constrained client APU systems to large data center products.
  • You will work closely with our internal teams to design and develop GPU core architectures that meet the demands of future ML-only and mixed ML/rendering workloads.
  • You will evaluate and utilize emerging AI algorithms and technologies for GPU gaming systems, client-based PC systems, and data centers.
  • You will develop ideas for new algorithms or adaptations to existing algorithms that will enable new ground-breaking capabilities or performance through HW/SW implementation.
  • You will implement, document, and test new architectures to ensure correctness and consistency with planned algorithms.

  • You have strong analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • You have experience in small technical team leadership, setting goals, and directions.
  • You have good communication skills and can communicate effectively with teams around the globe.
  • You are able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • You have technical and illustrative writing skills.
  • You are passionate about learning, hardware-software engineering, problem solving, and new technologies.
  • You are proficient and fluent in English verbal and written communication skills.
  • You are willing to travel occasionally within North America.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • You have several years of experience in high-performance hardware architecture development roles.
  • You have experience in ML/inference hardware acceleration and algorithm development.
  • You have experience in neural network architecture and algorithms.
  • You have strong programming and hardware modeling skills in C or C++.
  • You have experience with multi-threading, multi-core, and concurrent programming.
  • You have scripting language (Python, Perl) and UNIX/Linux experience, RTL a plus.
  • You have CPU/GPU application/driver knowledge and experience desired.

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary range of $150,000 - $200,000 per year, depending on your qualifications and experience. You may also be eligible for incentives based upon your role, such as an annual bonus or sales incentive. Many AMD employees have the opportunity to own shares of AMD stock, as well as a discount when purchasing AMD stock if voluntarily participating in AMD's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
